Micah's Birthday

Today is Micah's ninth birthday! I told him this morning that this is his last year in "the single digits". He rolled his eyes at me, which I believe is a precurser to the teenage years.

He enjoyed a birthday breakfast of eggs over easy and bacon made into a smiley face. . . his favorite. Then he opened his present from Grandmother & Grandaddy, which included $50 towards his mission trip and a handmade blanket from Grandmother. He was overwhelmed when he opened his card and the $50 bill fell out!

We then spent the rest of the morning at the YMCA, where he swam his heart out and horsed around with the lifeguards. Right now he is out with his daddy, who told him they were going to the dump, but will soon surprise him by letting him pick out his new bike. I think we're going out to eat tonight with my mom to celebrate. . . I'm trying to convince Micah to do that rather than roast hot dogs over a bonfire. We'll see. Tomorrow he is going to the movies with a few friends to see "Prince Caspian".

It's hard to believe my baby is nine. Nine years ago today, I was passed out from too many drugs and a hard labor, Micah was whimpering in the NICU, and my mom was desperately trying to fly home from England. What a wild ride! We are blessed.
